Caption: Tentative Gaza Hostage Deal Pending Israeli Approval. NBC reports that a tentative deal has been agreed upon to release hostages held in Gaza. According to sources with knowledge of the talks, the potential deal includes an exchange of 50 women and children for 150 Isreali-held Palestinian prisoners. The tentative agreement, which could still fall apart, is subject to change and will require the approval of the Israeli government. Following reports that a cease-fire agreement with Hamas was close, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened special Cabinet meetings. Meanwhile, heavy fighting was reported in the area surrounding the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza amid Israel's ground assault. According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, at least 50 journalists have been killed since the war began. The organization said that the first four weeks of the conflict in Gaza were the deadliest for journalists since fatalities began being tracked in 1992. Health officials have said that the death toll has exceeded 13,000 following weeks of ongoing combat. Over 1.6 million people have been displaced since the conflict began. The United Nations' World Food Program warned in a post on X that nearly all of the over 2 million residents of Gaza have been left in urgent need of food aid.
