Headline: UNCAPTIONED: Twitch Expands Gambling Livestream Ban to Combat Scams

Caption: Twitch Expands Gambling Livestream Ban to Combat Scams. On August 2, Twitch announced that it would expand its existing ban on livestreams of gambling on the platform. NBC reports that the Amazon-owned company said it will now ban streams of online casinos Blaze and Gamdom. The decision adds to the four sites the company banned in 2022 when it first imposed its new gambling policy. NBC reports that the restrictions follow a 2022 controversy involving a streamer accused of scamming thousands of dollars from users and creators. "Our goal now, as it was last fall, is to protect our community, address predatory behavior, and make Twitch safer.", Twitch statement, via X (Twitter). According to Twitch, gambling viewership dropped by about 75% after first implementing the policy last year. NBC reports that the company also noted "some new trends" and said it would be updating its policies to improve user protection. In an effort to crack down on scams the company also prohibits sharing links to sites that include gambling games. According to the company, the ban looks to prevent “other harms stemming from questionable gambling sites.” THIS VIDEO MUST NOT BE EDITED FOR LENGTH TO COMBINE WITH OTHER CONTENT
