Eurogamer report that the crucial decision has prompted Xbox and the UK back to the table for negotiations ’in the public interest’. Winning this case has cleared the way for Microsoft to move forward with its $68.7bn acquisition of Activision Blizzard. The battle last week was over FTC being allowed to block the deal going ahead whilst they investigated further. Microsoft even admitted previously that should that happen there was no way for the deal to go ahead. That means team Microsoft must have been mighty pleased with the latest result inching them closer to closing the deal before its deadline of 18 July. Currently the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is still a steadfast opposition, however thanks to the latest courthouse victory for Microsoft, it seems the CMA are no open to rethinking that stance.
