Caption: Capcom’s first $70 base game is Dragon’s Dogma 2. Eurogamer report that the game will go on sale on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC next March with a price tag of a pretty hefty $70. A deluxe edition is available for 10 more bucks at $80. This is the first time Capcom is putting a new game’s base version at a higher price. They have also been one of the few publishers to not come on board with the $70 cost, until now, Capcom president Haruhiro Tsujimoto shared back in September that game prices are too low, when taking into consideration, the need to increase wages amid rising developing costs. ”Development costs now are about 100 times more than they were during the Famicom era, but software prices haven't gone up to that extent.” "There's also a need to raise wages in order to attract talent. Seeing as wages are rising in the industry as a whole, I think raising unit prices is a healthy business model.” Dragon’s Dogma 2 launches officially on 22 March next year.
