Headline: UNCAPTIONED: Twitter Says Meta Stole Trade Secrets for Threads

Caption: Twitter Says Meta Stole Trade Secrets for Threads. On July 5, Twitter's lawyer sent a letter to Meta accusing the company of "systemic" and "unlawful misappropriation" of trade secrets. CNBC reports that the accusations revolve around the Instagram parent company's new Threads service. According to longtime Elon Musk attorney Alex Spiro, Threads was developed by former Twitter employees who helped build a "copycat" app. Meta has denied the accusations. "No one on the Threads engineering team is a former Twitter employee. That’s just not a thing.", Andy Stone, Meta communications director, via CNBC. CNBC reports that the new app amassed millions of users within just hours of its launch. Threads launched with major brand and celebrity representation. However, the platform still lacks some crucial features, including a web app, and has yet to start generating revenue. So far, CNBC reports that the app is also missing a direct messaging feature. Additionally, the app pulls posts from all users, making it difficult to find content posted by individuals or brands that users have chosen to follow.
