On Nov. 5, 'The New York Times' and Siena College released results of a poll showing that five out of six swing states favor Donald Trump over Joe Biden for president in 2024. Those states are Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada and Pennsylvania. Wisconsin was the only swing state to show Biden ahead of Trump. Most people polled thought Trump was better equipped to "handle the economy, immigration and national security," 'The Guardian' reports. 71% said that they felt Biden, 80, was "too old" to remain president. However, if Trump is convicted and sentenced in any of the four criminal cases against him, voter sentiment could change, 'The Guardian' reports. In response to the recent polling, Senator Richard Blumenthal said that the Democratic party had "its work cut out for us". "I was concerned before these polls, and I'm concerned now. These presidential races over the last couple of terms have been very tight." "No one is going to have a runaway election here. It's going to take a lot of hard work, concentration, resources. And so we have our work cut out for us.", Senator Richard Blumenthal, via statement. Meanwhile, Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis have also proven to be serious contenders for Biden in the swing states.
