PC Gamer report that a whole decade after the game launched for free on Xbox One the original ‘90s fighting game is indeed now going free to play on PC. Killer Instinct always had a better reception on Xbox than on PC so it’s kind of a surprise that it’s not been shut down, but instead migrated to new servers in 2023. Developer Iron Galaxy has now also officially announced that the game is getting a new patch on PC and will be free-to-play, as part of its 10th anniversary. Anyone who is already an owner of the PC version of killer instinct will get their free anniversary edition along with all 29 fighters and their holiday accessories.
