On November 8, the actors' union and the AMPTP, which represents Hollywood's largest studios, announced that a deal has been reached. SAG-AFTRA released a statement announcing that the union had:, "arrived at a contract that will enable SAG-AFTRA members from every category to build sustainable careers.". "Many thousands of performers now and into the future will benefit from this work." SAG-AFTRA, via statement. Studios also released an announcement, saying:, "The AMPTP is pleased to have reached a tentative agreement and looks forward to the industry resuming the work of telling great stories." . While the details of the agreement have yet to be released, the SAG statement offers a basic overview. According to the statement, the "extraordinary scope" of the agreement includes increased compensation, protections from AI and a "streaming participation bonus". The deal will also increase compensation for extras and provide "critical contract provisions protecting diverse communities". Vox reports that the union's national board still needs to approve the agreement before Hollywood can go back to work.
