Headline: Jeff Lynne announces death of Electric Light Orchestra bandmate Richard Tandy

Caption: The ELO leader announced the death of the musician on X/Twitter on Tuesday night. Tandy was 76. Tandy joined ELO as a bass player in 1972 after the release of the band's debut album before becoming the keyboardist. Thanks to his ability to play instruments such as the Minimoog synthesiser, a Wurlitzer electric piano, the Clavinet, Mellotron and piano, ELO was able to create its signature futuristic sound. Tandy served as Lynne's right-hand man in the studio, helping to arrange strings, and worked with him on other non-ELO projects, such as the soundtrack to the 1984 movie Electric Dreams.
