Headline: UNCAPTIONED: China approves Microsoft's proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard

Caption: China approves Microsoft’s proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Eurogamer report that following Brazil’s and the EU’s approval earlier this month, China is the latest regulatory body to give Microsoft the thumbs up as it surges forward with its bid to purchase the maker of Overwatch and Call of Duty. In a statement reported to Eurogamer a Microsoft spokesperson said: ”China's unconditional clearance of our acquisition of Activision Blizzard follows clearance decisions from jurisdictions such as the European Union and Japan, bringing the total to 37 countries representing more than two billion people.” "The acquisition combined with our recent commitments to the European Commission will empower consumers worldwide to play more games on more devices.” The Chinese approval is hot on the heels of the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority blocking the deal. The CMA gave the reason that if Activision Blizzard were to be aquired by Microsoft, ‘stifling competition in this growing market’ would be risked.
