Headline: UNCAPTIONED: Google Tests AI Tool for Writing News Articles

Caption: Google Tests AI Tool for Writing News Articles. The new tool, Genesis, is being pitched to news outlets as a "helpmate" for writing articles, 'The Guardian' reports. According to Google, the technology is not meant to replace journalists altogether. "These tools are not intended to replace the role journalists have in reporting, creating and factchecking their articles." "Our goal is to give journalists the choice of using these emerging technologies in a way that enhances their work and productivity, just like we’re making assistive tools available for people in Gmail and in Google Docs." Google, via statement. According to a person familiar with the product, Google views the tool as a way to "steer the publishing industry away from the pitfalls of generative AI." However, two 'New York Times' executives said the AI tool "seemed to take for granted the effort that went into producing accurate and artful news stories." The introduction of Genesis follows a deal recently made between OpenAI and the Associated Press in which the ChatGPT maker was granted access to the news agency's story archive for training purposes. A report published by accounting firm KPMG last month estimates that 43% of what authors, writers and translators do could be performed by AI tools. Last week, it was reported by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development that we are on the "cusp of an AI revolution" which could deplete jobs in law, medicine and finance, 'The Guardian' reports. Meanwhile, Apple is reportedly developing its own chatbot, Apple GPT, to rival ChatGPT, 'Bloomberg' reports. THIS VIDEO MUST NOT BE EDITED FOR LENGTH TO COMBINE WITH OTHER CONTENT
