The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) revealed its latest negotiation package for the Writers Guild of America (WGA) in a news release, CNN reports. The proposed package includes what the studios claim is the greatest WGA wage increase in 35 years. Additionally, the AMPTP says any written material created by AI would "not be considered literary material," CNN reports. The WGA would also have access to viewership data in the spirit of increased data transparency. "Our priority is to end the strike so that valued members of the creative community can return to what they do best and to end the hardships that so many people and businesses that service the industry are experiencing." "We have come to the table with an offer that meets the priority concerns the writers have expressed. We are deeply committed to ending the strike and are hopeful that the WGA will work toward the same resolution." Carol Lombardini, president of the AMPTP, via statement. However, the WGA doesn't believe that the new "offer was made in good faith," CNN reports. "This wasn’t a meeting to make a deal. This was a meeting to get us to cave, which is why, not 20 minutes after we left the meeting, the AMPTP released its summary of their proposals." WGA, via statement. The WGA went on strike in May, and SAG-AFTRA joined them shortly after. According to CNN, the longest writers' strike to date was for 154 days in 1988.
