Headline: UNCAPTIONED: Avril Lavigne addresses 'dumb' conspiracy theory

Caption: During an appearance on Wednesday's episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast with Alex Cooper the Canadian pop-punk singer quashed rumours that she died in 2003 and was replaced by a body double named Melissa Vandella. "It's just funny to me," Avril said of the conspiracy theory. "On one end, everyone's like, 'Oh, my God, you look the exact same. You haven't aged a day.' But then, other people are like, you know, there's a conspiracy theory that I'm not me." The Sk8er Boi hitmaker went on to joke that the rumour "could be worse". "Honestly, it's not that bad. It could be worse, right?" she said with a laugh. "I feel like I got a good one. I don't think it's, like, negative or anything, like, creepy.". Avril then clarified, "Obviously, I am me, it's so dumb.". The rumour that the singer has been replaced by a body double began in the early 2000s and has been circulating online ever since. The My Happy Ending singer also addressed the theory in an interview with Galore magazine in 2022, calling it the "weirdest rumour" "Doesn't everyone constantly say that I literally look the same as I always have?" Avril said at the time. "It's funny because everyone says I look the same, but then there's that. That doesn't make any sense. Also, how random? When people bring it up - and it's been brought up to me for, like, years - that there's this conspiracy theory that I'm not me or something? I'm a clone? ... I don't know, it's just the weirdest rumour." THIS VIDEO MUST NOT BE EDITED FOR LENGTH TO COMBINE WITH OTHER CONTENT
