His widow, Alicia Paxson, said that her husband was unaware the bridge had collapsed and was following Google's out-of-date GPS directions. NBC reports that the lawsuit, which accuses Google of negligence, is seeking a jury trial and does not name a damage amount. The lawsuit names Google's parent company, Alphabet, in addition to three people who own or control the land where the bridge is located. In 2013, a large portion of the Snow Creek Bridge collapsed and was never repaired. According to the suit, a woman informed Google that the bridge was out in 2020 using the "suggest an edit" feature and was told in an email that the matter was under review.
