Caption: Biden Urges Netanyahu to Limit Civilian Casualties While Fighting Hamas. President Joe Biden spoke on the phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Oct. 10, NBC News reports. During their conversation, he urged Israel's leader to do what he can to keep any more civilians from being killed in the Gaza Strip. Biden's plea comes as Israel is engaged in an offensive attack on Hamas in response to the militant group's deadly assault on Oct. 7. The prime minister's office later released a video of the call with Biden, highlighting the terror inflicted by Hamas. "We’ve never seen such savagery in the history of the state. They’re even worse than ISIS. They’re even worse than ISIS, and we need to treat them as such." Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, via video of phone call with President Joe Biden. Even though the U.S. is a close ally of Israel, Democrats and Republicans have different opinions about how the country should handle Hamas. Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley called on Netanyahu to "finish them,". while Rep. Cori Bush feels that "we must do our part to stop this violence and trauma by ending U.S. government support for Israeli military occupation and apartheid.". Biden's former ambassador to Israel, Tom Nides, says that Hamas does not care about the suffering it may cause for Palestinians. "The goal of Hamas is to create a regional war against the state of Israel. And they don’t care what the costs will be for that to be created, including the death and destruction of innocent Palestinians.", Tom Nides, Biden administration's former ambassador to Israel, via NBC News.
