Having a mediator can also help maintain control. Hosts should actively create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. "Be present, be aware, and also be an advocate for those who feel like they're being beat up on," she emphasized. Swann advises hosts to focus on fostering a festive environment and ensuring everyone feels comfortable, even during difficult conversations. The aim, according to Swann, is to balance open dialogue with preserving family harmony, making the holiday enjoyable for all.
