Trump Feels “Badly” for Royals After Andrew Loses Titles Over Epstein Scandal. President Donald Trump expressed sympathy for the Royal Family after Andrew Mountbatten Windsor was stripped of his royal titles amid renewed scrutiny of his ties to Jeffrey Epstein. Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump called it “a terrible thing that’s happened to the family,” describing the situation as “tragic” and saying he felt “badly for the family.” The King removed Andrew’s remaining titles, including Duke of York, following the release of Virginia Giuffre’s posthumous memoir detailing her abuse by Epstein. Giuffre, who accused Andrew of sexually assaulting her as a teenager trafficked by Epstein, settled her 2021 lawsuit for a reported £12 million. Andrew continues to deny all allegations. Defence Secretary John Healey confirmed that the former prince could also lose his honorary rank of vice admiral, saying the government is “being guided by the King.” Andrew, who served in the Royal Navy for more than 20 years, was granted the honorary title in 2015 and retained it even after giving up other military roles in 2022. Now known simply as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor, he is expected to move from Royal Lodge to the Sandringham estate, where his accommodation will be privately funded by the monarch. Pressure is mounting for Andrew to testify before the U.S. House Oversight Committee investigating the Epstein affair, with royal biographer Andrew Morton warning of “more revelations to come.”
