Full size LEGO Formula 1 cars stole the show at the Miami Grand Prix by featuring in the Driver’s Parade.
Each team’s drivers shared one of 10 fully drivable LEGO-built F1 cars, each representing a team on the grid.
The drivers took their LEGO cars on a lap around the circuit - with some even getting their competitive juices going by racing each other.
These meticulously crafted Big Builds were constructed over 22,000 hours by a team of 26 designers, engineers and builders at the LEGO Group’s facility in Kladno, Czech Republic.
Each near life-size car, built from nearly 400,000 LEGO bricks, weighs around 1,500kg and can reach speeds of up to 20 km/h.
The models faithfully replicate the design of real Formula 1 cars, complete with sponsor branding and authentic Pirelli tyres.
Julia Goldin, Chief Product & Marketing Officer at the LEGO Group, said: “We know that drivable big builds have an unparalleled ability to evoke excitement amongst fans, and are delighted to see the reaction unveiling 10 at the same time has brought.”
Emily Prazer, Chief Commercial Officer at Formula 1, added: “As a sport synonymous with innovation and pushing boundaries, it was amazing to see another first for our sport as the big builds made their way around the track in the hands of the best drivers in the world.”
The vehicles were inspired by the LEGO F1 Speed Champions range, launched last year, and form part of an ongoing, multi-year partnership aimed at bringing families closer to the sport.
Following the Miami Grand Prix, all 10 LEGO Big Builds will embark on a global tour, making appearances at races and key moments on the F1 calendar.
