Shein Shares Fall In Long-Awaited Stock Market Debut. Shares in fast-fashion giant Shein have fallen in their highly anticipated Hong Kong stock market debut after years of trying to go public. The company raised around $1.7 billion from the listing, giving it a valuation of $26.3 billion — roughly a quarter of the nearly $100 billion it was once estimated to be worth. Shares dropped as much as 10% in early trading before recovering some losses. Shein previously attempted to list in the US and UK but faced scrutiny over its labour practices and environmental impact. The company now serves around 160 markets and says more than 273 million active customers placed over a billion orders in the year to March. However, analysts say higher costs, tougher competition and regulatory scrutiny are raising questions about whether Shein can revive its rapid growth.
