Two Dead, Over 30 Injured in Pyrenees Coach Crash. A coach carrying 47 people collided with a cliff edge on a twisting road in the Pyrenees-Orientales region of southern France on Sunday, leaving two people dead and more than 30 injured. The collision occurred around 5 p.m. near the ski resort of Porte-Puymorens on the N320 road, a route known for its sharp curves. The coach was traveling from Andorra through France toward Spain. Local authorities confirmed 10 people were critically injured, while 32 others suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The deceased have not yet been identified. Victims were taken to hospitals in Perpignan, Toulouse, and Foix in France, as well as Puigcerdà in Spain. Emergency responders coordinated cross-border efforts to ensure rapid medical care. The rescue effort involved over 170 personnel, including 133 firefighters and 40 gendarmes. Additional support came from Catalonia in Spain and Andorra, underscoring the regional collaboration. At least five helicopters were used in the operation to reach victims quickly and airlift those in critical condition. Photos from the scene showed the bus pressed against the cliffside, with its right side crushed and the windshield shattered. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash. No immediate explanation has been given for why the coach veered into the cliff edge. France’s Transport Minister François Durovray expressed condolences to the victims’ families and praised the efforts of the rescue teams. Catalonia’s emergency services revealed that the bus originated from L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, a suburb of Barcelona, highlighting the transnational nature of the incident.
