CEO Sam Altman confirmed the organisation will remain under non-profit control, even as it shifts to a public benefit corporation structure. The move comes after criticism, including from co-founder Elon Musk, that OpenAI was drifting from its mission to benefit humanity. Regulators were also asked to intervene by former staff and AI experts concerned about the change. Chairman Bret Taylor said the update follows talks with attorneys general in California and Delaware.
