Caption: Matty Healy reveals The 1975 are working, on new music. During their show at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham on Wednesday night, The 1975 frontman revealed that the English pop/rock band are working on a new album. The news comes months after the band confirmed they would be taking a break once their long-running tour, Still... At Their Very Best, wraps up in March. "The truth is, everyone's kind of afraid that we're going to go away for ages," Matty told the crowd on Wednesday, referring to the previously announced hiatus. "We're working on a new record now. So I suppose that I can't operate without my friends... we kind of are The 1975 so...", Matty Healy / Live on stage REsorts World arena Birmingham. Matty, 34, then took out his phone and held it up to his microphone before playing a short snippet of an unreleased track. The singer then appeared to share a lyric from the track, telling the crowd, "It's a line actually, what is it ... ' I take a minute when I think I won't die from stopping.'" "And that's really how I've felt for a long time. We really appreciate you guys and thank you so much. We're going to go away and hopefully make you a good new album. I just don't know what to do in the meantime, really.", Matty Healy / Live on stage REsorts World arena Birmingham. Birmingham was the band's last stop in the U.K. on this tour. They will kick off the European leg of the tour in Belgium on 3 March before wrapping up the trek in Amsterdam on 24 March. The tour, which began in September 2022, is in support of the band's fifth studio album, Being Funny in a Foreign Language. THIS VIDEO MUST NOT BE EDITED FOR LENGTH TO COMBINE WITH OTHER CONTENT
