Headline: UNCAPTIONED: Millions Could Claim Up to £70 in Mastercard Settlement

Millions Could Claim Up to £70 in Mastercard Settlement. Millions of shoppers in the UK might be eligible for compensation following a recent tribunal ruling against Mastercard. The case stems from fees charged to businesses over a 15-year period, from the early 1990s until 2008, which allegedly led to higher prices for consumers. This legal battle, initiated by former financial ombudsman Walter Merricks, claims shoppers paid more due to these unfair fees. You don't need to have owned a Mastercard to claim. If you lived in England, Wales, or Northern Ireland for at least three months between June 1997 and June 2008 or in Scotland from May 1992, and bought goods or services from a UK business accepting Mastercard, you could be eligible. The £200 million settlement sets aside £100 million for consumers. If about 2.5 million people claim, each may receive around £45, but if fewer claim, payouts could rise to £70. Claims must be made by the end of this year. Mastercard has declined to comment on the ruling.
