Headline: UNCAPTIONED: FDA Approves Moderna's mRNA Flu Vaccine

Caption:

FDA Approves Moderna's mRNA Flu Vaccine. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Moderna's mRNA seasonal flu vaccine, mFLUSIVA. The vaccine is expected to be available for adults aged 50 and older during the 2026-2027 flu season. Moderna said clinical trial results showed the vaccine reduced confirmed flu cases by 27% compared with the current standard vaccine in people aged 50 to 64. The company said side effects were generally mild, short-lived and similar to those seen with existing flu vaccines. Moderna will continue collecting data on adults aged 65 and older, for whom high-dose flu vaccines remain the current recommendation. The FDA initially declined to review the vaccine before reversing course after Moderna agreed to conduct an additional post-approval study. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has repeatedly criticized mRNA vaccine technology and previously canceled hundreds of millions of dollars in federal mRNA research funding. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) continues to recommend annual flu vaccination for everyone aged six months and older.
