Flights Cancelled And Travel Warnings Issued After Iran Strikes. Airlines across the Middle East have cancelled or diverted flights after US and Israeli strikes on Iran triggered retaliatory attacks and widespread airspace closures. Airports in Tel Aviv, Dubai, Doha and other major hubs suspended operations, while long-haul routes between Europe and Asia have been rerouted via Saudi Arabia or the Caucasus. The UK Foreign Office warned against all travel to Israel, and against all but essential travel to Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE, urging British nationals to shelter or register their presence. Emirates and Etihad suspended flights from Dubai and Abu Dhabi, while British Airways halted services to Tel Aviv and Bahrain and warned of further disruption from Heathrow. Virgin Atlantic paused routes to Riyadh and Dubai, cautioning that flights to India, Saudi Arabia and the Maldives may face longer journey times due to diversions. Gulf states including Qatar, the UAE and Kuwait reported intercepting Iranian missiles and drones, with explosions heard in Doha and Erbil and a US facility in Bahrain reportedly hit. British officials are drawing up contingency plans to evacuate UK nationals, though much of the region’s airspace remains closed. US President Donald Trump cited Iran’s nuclear programme as a key reason for the strikes while UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer confirmed British aircraft were operating defensively in the region and urged Tehran to avoid “indiscriminate” attacks.
