An expert guide to keeping your teeth strong and healthy. Many common dental issues, such as cavities, are preventable if you take care of your teeth properly. Brushing your teeth regularly and avoiding certain foods and drinks are simple ways to protect your pearly whites. The clinic's dental hygienist, Hannah Ripley, then goes on to share her easy but effective tips for looking after your teeth. Avoid sugary foods. Sugary foods and drinks are one of the biggest contributors to tooth decay, which leads to cavities. Stop late-night snacking. Try to avoid snacking after brushing your teeth. Stay away from fizzy drinks. Brushing your teeth immediately after drinking a sugary beverage can do more harm than good. Stay hydrated. Drinking water throughout the day can help strengthen your teeth and prevent tooth decay. Finally, the dental hygienist recommends following DenTek's 'Inside, Outside, Upside, Done' routine. She explains: "This involves cleaning between the teeth first, followed by the outside (brushing your teeth) and the upside (tongue) but not rinsing.”
