Keeping your skin moisturised and hydrated can help relieve eczema symptoms. ”Use a thick, fragrance-free moisturiser at least twice a day and immediately after bathing while the skin is still damp to lock in moisture and create a protective barrier.” Identify and avoid triggers. Eczema can be triggered by a number of things, so it is important to understand what can make your symptoms worse. ”Eczema flare-ups are often triggered by specific irritants or allergens including certain fabrics, soaps, or environmental factors," the expert states. ”Keep a journal to track flare-ups and potential triggers. Common triggers include wool or synthetic fabrics, harsh soaps, fragrances and stress. Once identified, make lifestyle adjustments to avoid these triggers wherever possible.” Manage stress. Stress is a common trigger for the skin condition. ”Incorporate stress-reducing practices into your daily routine, such as meditation, deep breathing exercises, or regular physical activity. These can help manage stress levels and, in turn, reduce the frequency and severity of flare-ups.” Consider topical medications. While over-the-counter treatments can help some people, they are not always enough for others. ”Consult a dermatologist about the possibility of using topical corticosteroids or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications. These help to reduce inflammation and manage severe symptoms.” Be mindful of your diet. Finally, it is important to be aware that your diet has a direct impact on your skin.
