ASLEF, the train drivers' union, voted 96% in favor of the deal, which includes a 15% pay increase over three years. The new Labour government made the offer shortly after winning the general election, resolving what ASLEF called the "longest train drivers' strike" in recent history. During the two-year dispute, union members went on strike 18 times.
