Tom Voyce is believed to have died after his car was swept into a river in Northumberland. Police say the 43-year-old failed to return home on Saturday night after spending the evening with friends. It’s thought he attempted to cross the Abberwick Ford, but his vehicle was carried away by the River Aln’s strong current. The area had been impacted by Storm Darragh, which brought heavy rain and strong winds over the weekend. Police have recovered his car but are still searching for Voyce. Chief Superintendent Helena Barron called it a tragic incident, urging respect for the family’s privacy. Specialist teams, along with North of Tyne Mountain Rescue volunteers, are assisting in the search.
