US and Iran Close to New Nuclear Deal, Trump Claims. The U.S. and Iran may be on the brink of a new nuclear agreement — that’s according to President Donald Trump. Speaking during his Gulf tour in Qatar - According to BBC. Trump said Iran has “sort of” agreed to terms for a deal aimed at long-term peace. The talks, described by both sides as serious but difficult, wrapped up Sunday with plans to resume soon. An adviser to Iran’s supreme leader told U.S. media that Tehran is ready to accept strict limits on its nuclear program, in exchange for sanctions relief — including giving up enriched uranium stockpiles. Trump, who pulled out of the 2015 deal back in 2018, hinted that a military strike on Iran might now be avoided, saying "We’re not going to be making any nuclear dust in Iran.” U.S. officials say the latest negotiations were productive, and more technical talks are expected soon.
