How to keep your energy up this autumn and winter. As the days get colder and darker, it's important to stick to healthy habits like eating well and exercising regularly to keep our energy levels up. Emma Bullock-Lynch, nutritionist at Wassen, has shared her top tips for keeping your energy levels up during the colder months. Make the most of the morning. It may be easier said than done, but try to start your day as soon as you wake up. A simple morning walk to get some fresh air or stretching can help you start your day off right. Stay hydrated. The combination of cold temperatures and central heating can often leave us feeling dehydrated and tired, so it's important to prioritise drinking water throughout the day. The nutritionist recommends avoiding black tea and coffee as they can be dehydrating and adds that you can boost your water with a squeeze of lemon or an electrolyte supplement such as Wassen Hydrate + Replenish. Eat healthy fats. Eating foods with healthy fats can help boost your energy and improve your mood. ”Healthy fats can be found in foods such as avocados, nuts, seeds and olive oil. And of course don't forget about the omega 3 fats DHA and EPA, mainly found in oily fish such as salmon, herring and mackerel.” Get a good night's sleep. Sleep is crucial when it comes to improving your energy levels. ”It might sound obvious but getting a good night's sleep, every night, is so important for health and wellbeing. During sleep the body repairs itself, but can only do so once a deep, restorative sleep is achieved.”
