How to become a morning person. Many health experts recommend that we wake up bright and early for the sake of our mental and physical health, but this is often easier said than done. For those who struggle to get out of bed in the morning, Brian Clarke, wellness expert and owner of UK Saunas, has shared his tips to help you wake up more easily in the morning and naturally boost your overall mood for the day. Keep a consistent sleep schedule. To wake up early in the morning, you need to get enough sleep at night. ”This helps regulate your body's internal clock which plays a key role in how sleepy or awake you are in the morning or night.” Let plenty of light into the room. Waking up in a pitch-black bedroom makes it harder to get up early. ”Exposing yourself to daylight as soon as possible once you wake will limit the amount of melatonin produced, the hormone that promotes sleep. So, it is best that you keep your curtains open or at least partially open to allow the sun to wake you naturally.” Use a soothing alarm. Try to choose an alarm sound that doesn't jolt you awake. ”For example, calming, pleasant music has been associated with reduced morning disorientation. Melodic alarms are easy to follow, which may help you wake up more smoothly.” Take a cool shower. Starting your day with a cool shower can help you feel more alert and improve your mood. ”Taking a shower is a key part of their morning routine, with water temperature playing a role in boosting alertness. Cold showers, in particular, have been noted to increase energy levels similarly to how caffeine does.”
