Caption:

A groundbreaking AI device is being developed which aims to read user's minds.

Designed to attach to your forehead or hang around your neck, Omi connects to your smartphone and uses a brain-interface module to interpret user intentions and execute them.

The device offers two formats: a button that sticks to the side of your forehead, translating thoughts directly into actions, and a necklace version, which allows users to interact vocally. Both options are equipped with rechargeable batteries lasting several days.

Omi can also listen to nearby conversations and provide helpful responses. Users can set the device to listen exclusively to them, ensuring privacy. Conversations and data are stored locally on the smartphone or cloud but can be erased with a single click for added security.

Nik Shevchenko, the visionary behind Omi, and his team aim to push the boundaries of AI with their ultimate goal: full mind-reading capabilities. For now, they’re focusing on practical applications like device activation. In an X post, Shevchenko acknowledged the challenges but emphasised the ambition behind the project.

Omi’s first release is slated for Q2 2025, with two prototype versions already showcased. For tech enthusiasts eager to experiment, the development team has made the device’s design documents publicly available, though building your own Omi requires advanced skills in soldering and working with PCBs.
