Germany Arrests Alleged Accomplice in Berlin Holocaust Memorial Stabbing. German authorities have arrested a Syrian national suspected of helping plan a knife attack at Berlin’s Holocaust memorial that seriously injured a Spanish tourist in February 2025. Prosecutors say the suspect encouraged another Syrian man, who has already been convicted, to carry out the assault. The Federal Prosecutor’s Office described the attack as Islamist-motivated and charged the new suspect with aiding and abetting attempted murder and dangerous bodily harm. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries during the stabbing at the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe but survived the attack. Earlier this year, the main attacker was sentenced to 13 years in prison for attempted murder and membership in a terrorist organization abroad. The latest arrest suggests investigators believe the assault involved broader extremist support networks beyond the convicted assailant alone. Officials have not disclosed further details about the communication between the two men.
