It describes the move as ending “a grave national injustice” and part of Trump’s effort to pursue “national reconciliation.” The pardons cover only federal charges, meaning state-level prosecutions — such as those in Georgia — remain unaffected. The proclamation specifically excludes Trump himself from its scope. The announcement follows recent clemency decisions by Trump, including for a retired NYPD officer convicted of stalking on behalf of China and ex-MLB player Darryl Strawberry for a 1995 tax case.
