Headline: UNCAPTIONED: Spotify Partners With Major Labels to Develop 'Responsible' AI Music Tools

Caption:

Spotify partners with major labels to develop ‘responsible’ AI music tools. Spotify says it’s working with the world’s biggest record labels to develop artificial intelligence tools that “put artists and songwriters first.” The streaming giant will license music from Sony, Universal, and Warner Music, the three companies that dominate the global industry as well as Merlin and digital distributor Believe. Spotify says the goal is to create AI technology that respects copyright and ensures musicians are properly compensated and credited. Artists will also be able to choose whether they want their work used in AI projects. However, critics warn that expanding AI on the platform could reduce streaming revenue for human artists. Spotify says it’s already developing its first AI tools under what it calls “upfront agreements,” insisting technology should “serve artists, not the other way around.”
