Headline: UNCAPTIONED: Cornish Seal Pups Released And On A Mission To Help Us Understand Their Species
Caption:
The first two seal pups to be released from the Cornish Seal Sanctuary after rehabilitation this season are on a special mission. After months of care and rehabilitation, Mary and Maggot have both been returned to the wild they are the first pups from the sanctuary to be fitted with specialist GPS tracking equipment. It is hoped that the tracking data will shed light on the changes that seal pups go through throughout their first year. To ensure the seals' welfare, the GPS tags are attached to the seal pup's fur between their shoulders with a thin layer of glue. This will fall off when they go through their annual moult, which happens between December-April each year.
