The United States is home to over 400 national parks, including historic sites, monuments and recreation areas. LifeHacker recommends taking advantage of one of the sites that are taking part in the National Park Service's six free days in 2024. 2024 National Park Free Days, Jan. 15 (Monday): Martin Luther King, Jr. Day April 20 (Saturday): First day of National Park Week June 19 (Wednesday): Juneteenth Aug. 4 (Sunday): Great American Outdoors Day Sep. 28 (Saturday): National Public Lands Day Nov. 11 (Monday): Veterans Day. Keep in mind that free days may still require timed entry or vehicle reservations. They may also include payment for services like camping, tours or transportation, like boat rides. Check ticket requirements ahead of time and make any necessary reservations in advance. Even if you miss one of these six free days, you may still qualify for reduced or free entry. Veterans, people with disabilities and fourth grade students all get free America the Beautiful annual passes, good for entry into all of the national parks. Active-duty military, along with their dependents, also qualify to receive the pass. Anyone 62 and older can buy an annual America the Beautiful pass for $20, or purchase a lifetime pass for $80
