Swiss freeskiing star Fabian Bösch has created his own ‘Circus Bösch’ in which he performs stunts like an acrobat.
Using trapeze swings, bouncy balls, and snow-covered railings, Bösch performs a circus act like no other, blending athletic precision with a playful flair.
His latest video invites audiences along as he leaps between swings, balances on bouncy balls, and executes daring stunts – all within the stunning winter backdrop of the Swiss Alps.
The Schilthorn run, where Bösch built his unusual circus, is already famed for its connection to the James Bond film On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and offers sweeping views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau mountains, adding to the scene’s grandeur.
Instead of using his bouncy balls solely for fitness he has turned them into part of a ski jump. That spark of an idea led to the circus, though not without some trial and error on the snowy slopes. Fortunately, Bösch had a dedicated team to help bring his vision to life.
Helvepark, a Swiss company known for its innovative snow parks, took on the challenge of designing the “circus” elements on the mountain. Working closely with Bösch, they created custom trapeze and rail setups that allowed him to perform his stunts.
“We didn’t have much time,” Bösch admits. “The shapers from Helvepark asked how they should set up the different elements. I had no more of a plan than they did, so we had to test numerous options, relying on both experience and gut instinct.”
The project’s intensity, Bösch recalls, was akin to competing in a major contest.
“‘Circus Bösch’ was every bit as challenging,” he adds. “What really wore on me were the little falls – approaching an obstacle 30 times and failing every time. In a contest, it’s just me; when I make a mistake, it only bothers me. But with ‘Circus Bösch’, there were 20 people on the mountain. You don’t want to let anyone down.”
