Trump Endorses Netanyahu For Reelection Ahead Of Israeli Vote. U.S. President Donald Trump has endorsed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for reelection, nine days before Israel's October 27 parliamentary vote. Trump praised Netanyahu as a "Great Warrior Prime Minister" and a key U.S. partner in confronting Iran, offering his "Complete and Total Endorsement”. Netanyahu thanked Trump for his "tremendous support", saying he was "honored and humbled" by the endorsement and praising the U.S. president's support for Israel. Trump had declined to endorse a candidate only days earlier, after months of tensions with Netanyahu over Iran, Gaza and Israel's actions in Lebanon. The U.S. president warned that America could be left to confront Iran without Israeli support if Netanyahu was replaced, saying he was "not inclined" to do so. Netanyahu said Trump had maintained a "laser focus" on confronting Iran and argued that the two leaders would prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons. The October 27 election will be Israel's first national vote since the Hamas-led October 7, 2023 attack and the conflicts that followed in Gaza, Lebanon and Iran. Netanyahu faces opposition including former military chief Gadi Eisenkot, who responded that only Israeli citizens would decide the outcome of the election.
