BMW's Major Recall: Over 720,000 Vehicles Affected. BMW is recalling 720,796 vehicles in the U.S. due to potential short circuit risks. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that water exposure could cause short circuits in an improperly sealed electrical connector on the water pump. Included in the recall are models such as the X1, X5, and certain 5-series sedans. Dealers will inspect the vehicles, replace the parts if necessary, and install a protective shield at no cost. NHTSA noted that BMW has received 18 complaints but no accident or injury reports.
