Two luxurious penthouses at the top of New York City's Plaza Hotel have hit the market for £55.7million ($70m).

The Pinnacle Penthouses were joined to create one mega apartment that overlooks Central Park.

The neighbouring abodes sit atop the more than century-old landmarked building, which has featured in iconic movies such as Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘North By Northwest’ and ‘Home Alone 2’.

Totalling 10,300 square feet, the penthouses include seven bedrooms, grand living spaces, marble accents, a chef's kitchen, and a spacious primary suite.

The units are connected by a terrace, which adds over 700 square feet of living space.

The larger unit spans approximately 6,316 square feet and includes four bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms, a study, formal dining and living areas, and a marble bar.

The smaller duplex, spanning around 3,974 square feet, serves as a guest house with its own elevator.

The new residents will also benefit from access to The Plaza Hotel’s Champagne Bar, the Palm Court, Guerlain spa, and doorman services.

Constructed in 1907 by Henry Janeway Hardenburg, the Plaza is renowned worldwide for its historic significance and luxurious design.

The French Renaissance-inspired architecture and lavish interiors even feature gold-encrusted crystal chandeliers.

The Plaza Hotel has been home to notable residents including Tommy Hilfiger, Marlene Dietrich, Christian Dior, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Taylor Swift.

Even F. Scott Fitzgerald’s ‘The Great Gatsby’ (1925) includes scenes from the hotel, which were also used in Baz Luhrman’s 2013 film by the same title.

Located in Midtown Manhattan, the penthouses offer easy access to Fifth Avenue, known for its famous landmarks such as the Empire State Building.

Fifth Avenue is also home to designer stores, upscale neighbourhoods, prestigious museums, and popular events like the Rockefeller Centre Christmas Tree lighting.
