McLaren have unveiled their first-ever hybrid convertible supercar, the Artura Spider.
Compared to the original Artura, the Spider and a new coupe model have more power, better performance, and increased driver engagement. It also stands as the lightest convertible supercar in its class, bettering rivals by as much as 83kg.
Michael Leiters, CEO of McLaren Automotive, said: “The new Artura is the complete next-generation supercar, whichever model you choose. We have upgraded the powertrain and the chassis systems to deliver more power, more dynamic performance and even higher levels of connection with the driver – without any compromise in everyday driving.
“And now alongside the new Artura coupe, we have the Artura Spider, a new convertible that has all of these improvements and brings another dimension of open-air McLaren supercar exhilaration to our range.”
Beneath its sleek exterior lies a powerhouse capable of delivering 689bhp, 596 of which come from a 3.0 litre V6 engine, with the additional 93 coming from an axial flux motor. It has a top speed of 330km/h (205mph) and can make it from 0 to 62 mph in three seconds flat. The supercar can be switched between four powertrain modes - Comfort, Sport, Track, and E-mode.
The Woking-based supercar manufacturer also upgraded the car’s information and connectivity system with smartphone mirroring, wireless charging, and a five-speaker McLaren Audio System.
The roof deploys in a speedy 11 seconds at speeds of up to 31 mph - one of the fastest times of any convertible.
Both the new Spider and an updated coupe model are currently available to order for delivery from mid-2024. Prices start from £221,500 for the standard specification, with three further interior specifications will be available for an additional £5,050 each.
