Davina McCall explains why she kept brain tumour diagnosis private until day of surgery. The former Big Brother host released a pre-recorded video on social media on Friday morning in which she revealed she was about to have an operation to remove a benign brain tumour. During a pre-recorded episode of her Making the Cut podcast with her boyfriend Michael Douglas, Davina shared her reasons for keeping quiet. ”I didn't want the drama and I was really thinking about my kids. It's tough enough going through something like this on your own but when you've got lots of people stopping you in the street and worrying about you, well I'm worried - I don't need other people's worry. It's intense, it's really intense. I'm putting my phone down, no social media for a couple of weeks.” In her announcement last week, the TV personality revealed that she underwent a random health scan and medics discovered a rare tumour called a colloid cyst. She had to get it removed via a craniotomy because it was "big for the space”. The 57-year-old then shared on the podcast why she didn't keep her health news a complete secret, saying: ”I know that I'm well known and if I don't tell people and I disappear for two or three weeks they're going to start digging and they will tell their side of the story. I'd much rather they have something from my mouth.” The mother-of-three is taking two months off work to recover from the operation. Earlier this week, Michael shared an update on Davina's Instagram page and informed followers that she had "made an enormous leap forward in the last 24 hours" and was out of intensive care.
