Getting your morning off to a good start is essential for a productive day, and one of the best things you can do is get your body moving as early as possible. Alex Bull, fitness professional and founder of Studio Tarw in Cardiff, Wales, has shared her quick guide to waking your body up with exercise. "In the first 10 minutes of the day, the most important thing you can do is stretch and get outside, even if you're standing outside in your dressing gown with a coffee.”. "Even better, get dressed, and pop your coffee in a portable cup and walk around the block.". Try to take advantage of the bright mornings in spring and summer by getting outside for some fresh air, as this can help regulate your body clock. "This is super important all year round, but especially this time of year, it establishes your circadian rhythm and gets you ready for the day.”. Alex goes on to suggest making time to stretch every morning, especially if you have to sit at a desk all day. "Stretching in the morning wakes up the muscles and the joints which is really important. The worst thing you can do for your body is spend the night lying in bed and go straight to sitting at a desk - so get stretching, get outside.". When it comes to scheduling your workouts, whether it's running, yoga or weight training, Alex recommends trying to get it done in the morning. "I always recommend doing your workouts at the start of the day, either at home or outside or in a class with a friend, so you don't get in your own way and end up not getting it in…". …she explains, adding that working out in the morning can leave you feeling focused and recharged for the day ahead.
