JoJo Siwa slammed after ‘cringy’ interview. The Karma singer received backlash from fans after claiming she had created an entirely new genre of music. ”When I first signed with Columbia, I said I wanted to start a new genre of music," JoJo, 20, told Billboard. ”They said, 'What do you mean?', and I said, 'It's called 'gay pop'. It's like K-pop but it's gay pop’." Unfortunately for the former Dance Moms child star, fans were swift to retort that such a genre already existed. ”That’s literally been around for longer than she’s been alive," one scornful commentator wrote on X/Twitter. ”Jojo siwa saying she wants to create a new genre of music called ‘gay pop’ is the most ignorant thing on planet earth, like, genuinely so disrespectful and dismissive of every queer person in music who came before her," posted another. Others said they were embarrassed for the pop star. ”She is winning the cringy contest," wrote one. Still other elements of JoJo's interview were taken apart by commenters – particularly her claim of having a “vision”. "I have a vision, I've always had it." JoJo said. ”I know what I wanna be. I know where I wanna go. I know the level, I know the craziness. I know what I want to make the world believe.” Some suggested JoJo's child stardom was to blame. ”This is what happens when you tell a child that they’re great at everything and never criticize them on stuff, you get this," one wrote. Another commented, "The audacity of that girl is something.” THIS VIDEO MUST NOT BE EDITED FOR LENGTH TO COMBINE WITH OTHER CONTENT
