Trump Says US Will Not Attack Iran Before November Midterm Elections. President Donald Trump said America will not attack Iran before November's upcoming midterm congressional elections nationwide. He said Washington and Tehran are holding productive discussions aimed at ending their six-month conflict peacefully. The war began in February after US and Israeli strikes on Iran triggered prolonged regional fighting. Trump's handling of the conflict has hurt his approval ratings and pressured Republicans ahead of elections. Rising gasoline prices have also intensified voter concerns about living costs during the ongoing Iran conflict. Washington and Tehran have exchanged proposals to end fighting and reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz. Trump rejected Iran's latest offer, while Tehran refuses to abandon uranium enrichment or surrender its stockpile. The United States and allies accuse Iran of pursuing nuclear weapons, allegations Tehran continues strongly denying.
