Elon Musk Says He Will Give Every US Child A SpaceX Share. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk says he plans to give one SpaceX share to "every kid in America" next year, describing it as the "first of many”. SpaceX shares were trading at around $146 on Friday, following the aerospace and artificial intelligence company's public market debut in June. With roughly 73 million people under 18 in the United States, the proposed giveaway could be worth around $10.7 billion at the current share price. Musk provided few details about the plan, including how the shares would be distributed or whether every child would be eligible. The announcement follows the introduction of Trump Accounts, a federal savings and investment programme for children, including a $1,000 contribution for those born from 2025 through 2028. Musk made the pledge after AI company Anthropic committed at least 5% of its shares, valued at $48 billion, to a new Public Benefit Fund. Anthropic said its fund could support social causes and help address the potential impact of artificial intelligence on people's jobs. Musk responded that companies should give shares "directly to the public", as the technology industry faces growing scrutiny over AI's impact on jobs, safety and society.
