Headline: Italian Police Get New 190 mph Lamborghini

Caption: Supercar maker Lamborghini delivered the Italian police with a rather special Christmas present - a new high-performance patrol car that can reach speeds of almost 200 mph. The special Urus Performante was handed over to the Italian Highway Police in December in Rome's Piazza del Viminale, outside the Ministry of the Interior headquarters. Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, presented the keys to the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, in the presence of Head of Police, Vittorio Pisani. “It is with great pleasure that we are continuing our twenty-year co-operation with the Italian State Police,” Winkelmann said. “Knowing that our cars are used for public duties and, above all, for crucial operations to save human lives, can only make me and the whole company proud. These initiatives, which bring us great satisfaction, demonstrate our innate close ties with Italy.” It is the latest car produced by this remarkable collaboration, with the Urus Performante joining Huracán LP610-4 supercars. The latter have even been used to deliver kidneys to hospital at speed. The new high-performance SUV will also be utilised for specialised services, including urgent medical transport missions involving organ and plasma transportation. With this in mind, the Urus Performante underwent customisation by Lamborghini technicians at its Sant’Agata Bolognese HQ. The exterior design, created by Lamborghini Centro Stile, features the classic blue colour of the Italian State Police with white accents and tricolour bands on the sills and seat belts. Reflective film police logos adorn the doors, and a roof-mounted light bar with 360° blue LED lights and a two-tone electric siren enhance the vehicle's police identity. The interior of the Urus Performante has been adapted to serve public security needs, including an armoured weapon box, a flip-down message display, and a trunk compartment for storing service equipment and a defibrillator for immediate first aid response. Notably, a portable fridge with a display and data logger for continuous internal temperature monitoring is installed for organ transportation. The Urus Performante boasts a twin-turbo V8 engine, delivering 666 CV of power and 850 Nm of torque. Accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h (ca. 60 mph) in just 3.3 seconds, it achieves a top speed of 306 km/h (ca. 190 mph). This customised and high-performance vehicle underlines Lamborghini's commitment to supporting essential public services.
