Headline: UNCAPTIONED: Judge Holds Trump Liable in 2nd E. Jean Carroll Defamation Case

Caption: CNN reports that a federal judge has ruled that former President Donald Trump is liable for defamatory statements in the E. Jean Carroll case. After finding Trump liable, the jury hearing the defamation lawsuit will only need to decide the monetary amount Trump will have to pay to Carroll. CNN reports that the federal judge's decision comes as Trump faces a number of criminal indictments and civil lawsuits. According to Judge Lewis Kaplan, a 2022 federal jury's verdict will carry over in the defamation trial set to begin in January. The trial revolves around statements Trump made in 2019 regarding Carroll's allegations that the former president sexually assaulted her. In May, Trump was found guilty of sexually abusing Carroll and defaming her in further statements made in 2022. "The truth or falsity of Mr. Trump's 2019 statements therefore depends – like the truth or falsity of his 2022 statement – on whether Ms. Carroll lied about Mr. Trump sexually assaulting her.", "The jury's finding that she did not therefore is binding in this case and precludes Mr. Trump from contesting the falsity of his 2019 statements.", Lewis Kaplan, Federal Judge, via CNN. CNN reports that the judge also decided to reject Trump's argument that any future damages be capped. Carroll is reportedly seeking over $10 million in damages from Trump, who has denied any wrongdoing and appealed the jury's verdict THIS VIDEO MUST NOT BE EDITED FOR LENGTH TO COMBINE WITH OTHER CONTENT
