Headline: Llamas Go Bananas And Hold Up Traffic After Escaping From Cumbria Farm

Caption: Llamas Go Bananas And Hold Up Traffic After Escaping From Cumbria Farm. A group of around 30 llamas and alpacas brought traffic to a halt on the A66 in Cumbria on 23 October 2023 after staging a great escape from their farm. The animals fled their enclosure at Basecamp North Lakes, a farm shop near Troutbeck in Cumbria. Staff at the parent company, Alpacaly Ever After, reported that a vehicle had crashed into a fence at their site and left the hole the alpacas escaped through. They raced to retrieve the woolly fugitives, but the curious llamas and alpacas had already caused havoc by stampeding along the main road near Appleby-in-Westmorland. The bizarre scenes were captured by local Rebecca Remmer, whose husband assisted in herding the animals back to safety. Cumbria Police later confirmed that the animals had returned to their field - but not before Rebecca captured one of the stranger wildlife events seen in the northern county on camera.
